George Richard Bargmann was born February 5, 1937 to Rudolph & Anna (Storevik) Bargmann in rural McCook County, South Dakota.  He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Orland and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.  He attended a country school and later attended school in Madison.  He served his country in the United States Army and was in Germany from January 25, 1955 to January 10, 1958.  After his tour of duty, George returned home and started working for Callen Elevator.  George married Sharol Larson on June 17, 1961 at First Lutheran Church, Colton, SD and were blessed with 57 years together.

Farming was a great passion for him and he was especially proud to be a third-generation farmer and continued actively up to his death.  John Deere was his favorite type of equipment and always had it ready to go.  He loved to babysit his grandchildren and attend their activities.  George enthusiastically followed the area sport teams which was one of his favorite pastimes.  For those that didn’t know George, he was a man of patience, easy-going and always was willing to help his neighbors & friends.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Sharol of Madison; son, Brad (Dawn) Bargmann of Rapid City; son, Brent (Gai) Bargmann of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney) Bargmann of Lincoln, NE, Connor (Taylor) Bargmann of Rapid City, Rangsimun Bargmann of Sioux Falls and Pimthong Thongtad of Sioux Falls; two great-grandchildren, Elayna & Braylin Bargmann of Rapid City; one sister, Marlys Schultz of Madison and many loving relatives & friends.
