What is the difference between a Pre-Need & At-need Cemetery Monument?
Purchasing pre-need headstones is becoming quite popular. In fact, many couples will purchase pre-need headstones for adjoining grave plots long before their death so they may be buried next to one another. This also takes the burden off of your immediate family because after all if they don’t know what you would want for your birthday how would they know what you would want for your cemetery memorial. It’s a good idea for individuals to discuss planning a funeral before death, the cost of a funeral and burial expenses can be very expensive (anywhere from $6,000-$12,000).
An at-need headstone is purchased after the person has died. This is the most common type of headstone purchase especially when the death is sudden or unexpected. Most people avoid talking about death and put off planning their funeral until the inevitable, but it’s a healthy discussion and should be talked about. It’s also the best way to ensure your wishes are carried out per your request.
