Joe Walters, age 62, died at his residence on December 9, 2011 of natural causes. He was born on July 14, 1949 at Britton, SD to Richard and Joan (Herrick) Walters. He grew up in Madison graduating from Madison High School in 1967. He also graduated from Lake Area Vocational School. He worked as Guerdons Manufacturing, US Fish and Wildlife and did farm labor for area farmers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman belonging to Isaac Walton League, Ducks Unlimited and the Nation Rifle Association. He was a supervisor at the Lake County rifle range. He is survived by four brothers - Dan (Sandy), Jim and Tim (Vickie) all of Madison and Lou (Terry) of Deadwood, SD. several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Weiland Funeral Chapel with Rev Terry Knudson officiating. Burial will be in St Thomas Cemetery. The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
