Thelma Stewart, age 83, died at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home on June 24, 2010. Thelma Marie Haub was born on January 22, 1927 in Pierre, SD to Frank and Lillian (Elsen) Haub. She grew up near Blunt, SD until she was 18 and she moved to Sublet, Il where she worked for the John and Gertrude Ryan family. She met and latter married Calvin Stewart at Amboy, IL on November 25, 1948. They moved to a farm by Winfred in 1963 where she lived until moving to Bethel Home in 2009. She is survived by four sons - Jerry (Dorothy) of Winfred, Mike (Donna) of Montrose, David (Lisa) of Madison and Dale (Margo) of Kimball, SD. Four daughters - Mary Stewart, Judy (Maynard) Stewart, Kathy (Doug) Erickson all of Madison and Joy (Todd) Sween of Brookings. 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. One brother - Vernon (June) Haub of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1980, and two sisters. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Madison with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery in Howard, SD She was a member of St Agatha Altar Society in Howard. She was a avid quilter and gardner. There will be a parish scripture service at 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
