Bernadette “Bonnie” Byrd, age 84, died at Golden Living Center on May 27, 2010. Bernadette Ann Brinker was born on February 28, 1926 at Salem, SD to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Scheier) Brinker. She married Maurice Byrd at Salem , SD on September 23, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by three sons - Ronald (Nancy) , Rick (Dawn) , and Pat (Lori) all of Madison. One daughter - Mary (Mike) Seiler of Omaha, NE. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two sisters - her twin sister Bernadine Millette-Wood and Nickie Donelan both of Sioux Falls. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother in infancy. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St Thomas Aquinas Church with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She grew up in Salem graduating from St Mary’s High School in Salem. She worked as a secretary and at Galloway's for many years. She was a member of St Thomas Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and enjoyed playing bridge and sewing. There will be a parish scripture service followed by a Catholic Daughter Rosary at 4:00 PM on Monday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
