Geraldine “Jeri” Saufley, age 79, died at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls of a brain aneurysm on April 19, 2010. Geraldine Sylvia Jankord was born at Watertown, SD on October 4, 1930. She married Stanley “Bud” Saufley at Milbank on October 30, 1948. She is survived by her husband - Stanley of Madison. Six sons - Steven (Roxie) of Denison, IA, Dennis (JoLynn) of Sioux Falls, Kevin (Robyn) of Sioux Falls, SD, Timothy (Beth) of Bloomington, MN, Thomas of Madison and David (Janelle) of Worthington, MN. Three daughters - Deborah Saufley of Sioux Falls, Denise Saufley-Wieser of Kaukauna, WI, Susan (Tom) Krier of San Diego, CA. 16 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. One sister - Janet Fenhouse of Laguna Niguel, CA and two brothers - Linus Jankord of Milbank and Clement Jankord of Plymouth, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Madison with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She grew up in Watertown where she attended grade school. She lived in Garden City before moving to Milbank where she graduated from Milbank High School in 1948. They lived in LaMoure, ND and Milbank before moving to Madison in 1963. She operated a day care out of her home for many years. She was a member of the St Thomas Altar Society. There will be a Parish Scripture Service at 7:30 PM on Wednesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to St Thomas School Foundation.
