Robert Empey, age 43, died unexpectedly while at work at Interstate Power System in Sioux Falls on February 23, 2010. He was born on October 8, 1966 at Little Falls, MN to John and Mary Ann (Schneider) Empey. He married Jessica Barger at Madison, SD on October 13, 2007. He is survived by his wife - Jessica of Hartford, a daughter - Madison and a son - Jack both at home. His mother - Mary Ann (Herb) Haselkamp of Little Falls, MN. Two brothers - Mark Empey of Little Falls and Steve Empey of Ft Worth, TX. Two sisters - Debbie Holllis of St Cloud, MN and Kathy Weber of Baltic, SD. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Central Valley Community Church in Hartford with Rev Chris Gorman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St Thomas Cemetery at Madison. He grew up in Little Falls graduating from Fergus Falls High School. He served in the US Air Force in the office of staff Chaplain in Iraq during Desert Storm. After the service he received his bachelors degree from North Dakota State University. He was working in the parts department at Interstate Power Systems. He was a member of the Hartford American Legion. The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Friday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
