Douglas Lampson, age 60, died unexpectedly at his farm East of Rutland on January 22, 2010.
He was born on March 5, 1949 at Flandreau, SD to Lawrence and Vivian (Hanson) Lampson.
He married Joyce Ingmansen at Nunda, SD on August 12, 1972.
He is survived by two sons - Nicholas of Brookings and Nathan of St Paul, MN. His spouse - Julie Popham of Harrisburg, SD. One brother - Dennis (Mary) of Woodinville, WA two sisters - Dorothy (Jim) Gale of Sioux Falls and Vicki (Jim) Madden of Armstrong, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Weiland Funeral Chapel in Madison with Rev Terry Knudson officiating. Burial will be in Mt Auburn Cemetery,.
Colman, SD.
He grew up on a farm by Rutland graduating from Rutland High School in 1967. He did his undergraduate degree from Dakota State University and a Masters degree from SDSU. He taught English and Speech at Duebrook High School before taking a position as psychological examiner at NE Education Services Co-operative in Hayti. He played bass guitar in several area bands including “Cloud Burst”, “Crank”, and “Hush”.
He had a zest for life that was unparalleled. He had a musician's heart and a deep sense of caring for children. He also loved camping in the Black Hills, being on his farm, and playing music with his sons.
The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel.
