Dylan Nelson, age 18, died as the result of drowning at Lake Madison on August 8, 2009. He was born on August 21, 1990 at SIoux Falls to Chad Long and Kristy Nelson. He is survived by his parents of Madison. One brother - Andrew and two sisters Elizabeth and Gabrielle all at home. HIs maternal grandparents - Mike (Darla) Nelson of SIoux Falls and Vicki Nelson of Winner and paternal grandparents - Dale and Ellen Long of SIoux Falls and his great grandmother - Elizabeth Durrin of Winner. He was preceded in death by his infant sister - Ilamae. Funeral Services will be held on 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the High School Gym in Chester with Rev Constanze and Dirk Hagmaier officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Sioux Falls with military honors by the SD National Guard 115 Signel Company out of Brookings. He grew up in Sioux Falls and Mitchell before moving to Madison. He graduated from Chester High School in 2008 where he participated in football, basketball, track and FFA. He was a sophomore at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and was working at Jimmy Johns Sandwich Shop in Sioux Falls. He was a member of the SD National Guard. The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
