Allan Beyer Sr

Allan Beyer Sr, age 79, formerly of Madison, died at his residence in Sioux Falls of natural causes on July 5, 2009. He was born on February 16, 1930 at Ramona, SD to Edmund and Frances (Behrends) Beyer. He married Alicia Salazar at Panama Canal Zone on April 8, 1949. He is survived by his wife - Alicia of Sioux and three sons - Allan Jr (Carol) of Madelia, MN, Scott and Chris (Cheri) both of Sioux Falls. Three daughters - Arlene Beyer and Annette (Brendon) O’Brien both of Sioux Falls and Cindy (Gary) Foos of Brookings, SD. 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Three brothers - Leon of Frazee, MN , Wayne of Bay Port, MN and Bruce of Marysville, WA. Two sisters - Lavay McCool of West Concord, MN and Sandy Mette of Vermillion, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2009 at St John Lutheran Church in Madison with Rev Daryl Schubert officiating. Burial with military honours will be in St John Cemetery Rural Ramona, SD. He grew up in Ramona enlisting in the US Army in 1947 where he served during the Korean and Vietnam era retiring in 1968 after serving 20 years. He then moved to Madison where he worked as an electrical journeyman for East River Power Co-operative retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion and DAV. The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
