Dorthey Whitethorn, age 86, died at Golden Living Center in Madison on April 15, 2009. Dorthey June Cassutt was born on September 6, 1922 at Badus Township, Lake County to Mathias and Marguerite (Mettler) Cassutt. She married Harold Whitethorn at Badus on March 12, 1945. he preceded her in death in 1987. She is survived by two sons - James (Sonja) and Gerald (Darlene) of Petersburg, AK and four daughters - Sharon (Bill) Braskamp of Tucson, AZ, Mary (Mike) Meehan of Junius, Nancy Dinges of Ramona and Elizabeth Whitethorn of Aurora, CO. 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Two brothers - Tom Cassutt of Ramona and John Cassutt of Sioux Falls. Four sisters - Helen Norman of Ramona, Donna Brown of Madison, Barbara Kunovic of Arvada, CO and Katherine Kraemer of Custer, SD. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son - Patrick and two sisters. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 20, 2009 at St William Catholic Church in Ramona with Rev Michael Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She grew up in Ramona and attended Ramona High School. She worked various jobs with her main time spent caring for her husband and seven children. She was a member of the Ramona American Legion Auxiliary and St William Altar Society. Parish Scripture service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday at St William Catholic Church in Ramona. Weiland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
