Dan Potter, age 90, died at the Madison Community Hospital on November 9, 2008. Daniel Lester Potter was born on July 6, 1918 at New Hampton, IA to Lindon and Rose( Schnur) Potter. He married Fairy Robb in Idaho on September 22, 1938. She preceded him in death 1998. He is survived by two daughters - Diane (Lyle) Thomas and Nila (Arnie) Baltzer both of Madison and one son - Lindon (Karen) Potter of Winfred. One daughter-in-law - Bonnie Callies of Watertown. nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one sister Arvilla Show of Madison. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son - Jerry in 1996, seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Winfred Congregational Community Church with Rev Bryce Hecht officiating. Burial will be in the Winfred Cemetery. He grew up in Winfred where he graduated from Winfred High School in 1937. He farmed most of his life in Winfred. He was a member of the Winfred Congregational Community Church, a 4-H leader and on the boards of the Winfred Cemetery and Land-o-Lakes. He was winfred township clerk. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
