Carmen Dennert, age 67, died at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls on April 5, 2008. Carmen Cay Caldwell was born in Mitchell, SD on August 8, 1940. She married Dennis Dennert at Webster, SD on June 25, 1960. She is survived by her husband - Dennis of Madison. Two sons - Michael (Colleen) of Lake Park, IA and Marshall (Bonnie) of Madison. Two daughters - Mendy Herke of Madison and NiKay Schaffer of Mapleton, IA. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev Len Halvorsen officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. She grew up in Mt Vernon where she graduated from high school in 1959. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, IA as a licensed Practical Nurse. She ran a day care center and worked as a LPN at the Hill Top Care Facility in Spirit Lake, IA for 20 years. They moved to Madison in July of 2007 where she worked in the lunch room at the Madison Elementary School. She was a member of the Mt Vernon American Legion Auxiliary and the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
