Cindy Downs, age 50, died at Sanford Hospital and University Medical Center on September 21, 2007. Cindy Ellen Wengert was born on June 20, 1957 at Madison, SD to Bruce and Marilyn (Peters) Wengert. She married Dennis Downs at Minneapolis, MN in 1988. They were divorced in 1997. She is survived by her mother - Marilyn (Gene) Uthe of Tuscan, AZ and one sister - Tracey Franco of Sioux City, IA. Two step children - Angie and Tony Downs. Three step sisters - Cindy Straw, Laura VIncent and Lisa Corbett all of Tucson. Special niece - Rachael Leighton (Eric) Dezell and beloved friend - Dennis Olson of Madison. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison with Rev Bruce Iverson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. She grew up in Madison graduating from Madison High School in 1975. She worked for various transportation companies including Apple LInes in Madison and for the last 12 years for Yellow Transportation in Sioux Falls. She was a member of Teamsters Local #794. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 pm on Monday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
