Celeste Harrington

Celeste Marie Harrington, age 95, formerly of Wentworth, SD, died at Dow Rummell Village in Sioux Falls on July 28, 2007. She was born at Wentworth on May 26, 1912 to Andrew and Johanna (Martin) Harrington. She grew up in Wentworth graduating from Wentworth High School in 1929 and from Coe College in Sioux City, IA in 1933. She worked at Consolidated Air Craft in La Jolla, CA during WW II. She returned to Wentworth after the war and became Vice President and Director of Dakota State Bank where she worked until she retired. She has lived at the Waterford Apts prior to moving to Dow Rummell where she lived the past three years. She was a member of AAUW, National Association of Banking Women, SD National Organization for Women, Rose Hill and St Thomas Cemetery Boards. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Far East. She is survived by three nieces- Virginia Harrington, Chaille Womack and Cleo Harrington r. one nephew - William Harrington. a grand niece Elizabeth Harrington and gread nephew - Jason Womack and two cousins-Kathleen Kammerer and Esther Spangler. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers - Clarence and Edward and one sister - Helen Murphy. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Madison with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church Cemetery. There will be a parish scripture service at 7:30 PM on Friday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
