Eugene Deniger 01-03-2007
Eugene Deniger, age 95, died at Bethel Home on January 3, 2007.
He was born on February 11, 1911 at Kranzburg, SD to John and Abbie (Kranz) Deniger. He married Janetta Smits at Estelline, SD on July 7, 1938.
He is survived by his wife - Janetta of Madison. Three sons - Ronald (Laurel) of Seeley Lake, Mt., John (Laurel) of Huron and Jim of Brookings, SD. Four daughters - Nan (Tom) Jones of Pensacola, FL, Judy (Quentin) Pickard of Brookings, Teresa (Dennis) Miller of Madison and Deborah (Mark) Hueners of Sioux Falls. eighteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and a daughter in infancy.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 6, 2006 at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Madison with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He grew up on a farm East of Watertown. He worked in the Black Hills C.C. C. during the 1930’s. In 1937 he moved to Watertown where he worked at the Swift Packing Plant until 1943 when they moved to Compton, CA where he worked at the Navel Base in San Pedro. In 1947 they moved to Russellville, AR where he worked for the Highway Department until moving to Madison in 1950 where he worked for John Morrell for 25 years retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the bowling and horseshoe league and a member of St Thomas Aquinas Church.
There will be a Parish Scripture Service at 7:00 PM on Friday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel.
