Donald Stearns, age 68, died unexpectedly at this residence of a heart attack on November 14, 2006. He was born on November 8, 1938 at Madison to Leonard and Gladys (Crabbs) Stearns. He grew up in Madison graduating from Beadle High School in 1962. He was a member of the SD National Guard for 16 years and a member of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He worked for the City of Madison for 36 years retiring in 2004. He is survived by two brothers - Jim (Adelyne) and Dick (Dorothy) both of Madison and two sisters - Barbara Turner of Brookings and Nedra (Richard) Anderson of Sioux Falls. Several nieces and nephews and special friend - Marlys Deming of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - Bill and Jack and one sister - Dorothy Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Madison with Rev Marilyn Spurrell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will be present at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
