Dorothy Mauf, age 69, died at Sioux Valley Hospital on April 27, 2006. Dorothy Strain was born on May 29, 1936 at Pittsburgh, PA to Charles and Lillian (Stull) Strain. She married Gerhard “Smoky” Mauf at Pittsburgh on February 4, 1956. She is survived by her husband Smoky of Madison and one daughter - Dr Patty Mauf and husband - Chris Schwaner of Chesapeake, VA and one grand daughter - Hannah. Two sisters - Cathy (Jack) Wetmore of Pittsburgh, PA and Barbara (Peter) DeBenedictis of Youngstown, OH. Stepson - Dennis Phillips of Madison, two step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 1, 2006 at St Thomas Aquinas with Rev Robert Vinslauski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She grew up in Pittsburgh and lived there until moving to Madison in 1962. She worked as a secretary at the ASCS Office and at Community Counseling retiring in 1992. She was a 4-H Leader and member of LeRoy Ladies extension club. She also was involved in bible study and quilting at St Thomas. She was an avid bowler. There will be a parish scripture service at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
