Bill Schirmacher 04-09-2006
William “Bill” Schirmacher was born on November 24, 1931 at Highmore, SD to William and Mae (Wolkenhauer) Schirmacher. He married Beverly Symons at Mooresville, IN on November 1, 1953. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack early sunday morning at the age of 74.
He grew up in Madison and enlisted in the US Army in 1948. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1958. They lived in California and Oregon before moving back to Madison in 1967. He drove truck for Midwest Coast, Bill & Gene’s and Carlisle Plastics before retiring in 1993. After retirement he worked part time as a volunteer Policeman and for the City of Madison. He was a life member of the Madison VFW.
He is survived by his wife - Beverly of Madison. Two sons - Mark (Rose) of Lynd, MN and James (Sandy) of Viborg, SD. Two daughters - Geri (Clellie) Lembcke of Madison and Gwenn Nevland of Wolf Point, MT. 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Six sisters - Jean (Paul) Lambert of Vancouver, WA, Myrna (Don) Sterns of M Shasta, CA, Carol (Bert) Verhey and Victoria (Ed) Madison both of Madison, Sharon (Dave) Daniels of Fallbrook, CA and Mary (Earl) Cole of Fargo, ND and a half brother - John Raschdorf of Maine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and grand daughter in infancy and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at United Methodist Church with Rev Marilyn Spurrell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with Military Honors by the Madison VFW.
The family will be present at 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
